Nominet is undertaking an exercise to classify its .uk domains (websites) into different types to support its marketing activities. An automated system will be built to do this, but in order to ‘train’ the system a large number of domains will need to be classified manually.
We have already manually classified a large number of domains into Industry Sectors (such as ‘Construction’ and ‘Healthcare’) but now we need to break some of those categories down into more detailed subcategories (for example ‘Construction’ could be broken down into Plumbing, Electrical and Building etc). The role holder(s) will be required to classify domains (websites) into Categories / Subcategories as directed, and an interactive IT system will be provided to assist in doing this.

The DNS engineer will support and operate the Nominet DNS platforms, taking ownership of regular support tasks and project duties as required to meet stringent performance criteria.
Additionally the DNS engineer will research, develop, and evaluate methods and technologies for analysing operational DNS data. They will achieve these tasks using their knowledge of network operations and by using in house applications.
