What we ask of an Information Security Officer
There are things we ask of everyone who works with us, and some that are specific to each role. Here’s what we need from our Information Security Officer.
Security is the Word!
Show us your innovation, drive and passion for technology. You have a deep interest in all things security and are excited to be accountable for the maintenance and development of the security monitoring of Nominet’s Infrastructure and data systems.
Effortlessly managing security incidents and assisting with their resolution. Through-out all of this you are promoting a positive security culture with all staff and key stakeholders.
Clarity with Confidence
Analyse, interpret and report on a wide variety of security data to provide situational awareness and trends in behaviours. Be the eyes and ears of security, conducting risk assessments, providing guidance and recommendations on our security architecture. Be calm and confident responding to vulnerabilities or incidents, ensuring we are at the forefront of security initiatives, keeping Nominet and our customers secure.
Be collaborative. Build networks across our business to make sure our whole is greater than our parts. Be open-minded and willing to speak up and sign up – show your fierce commitment to being connected. Communicate positively at all levels, inside and outside the company
The skills and experience you will bring
You will have a good technical understanding of cyber security and know what good security architecture looks like! Familiar with cloud infrastructure and network protocols. Experience of conducting security risk assessments, incident analysis and vulnerability assessments.
You relish working in all kinds of ways with all kinds of people, and build strong relationships with customers and colleagues alike. Gladly juggling and multitasking across lots of strands of work with varying priorities.
You are an excellent communicator – listening, explaining and diving into group discussions. Having an ability to write in a way that’s easy to understand and digest – and can analyse and interpret all manner of information, including numerical.
You know your way around monitoring tools like IDS and SIEMs. You must have experience in security and ideally a degree in computer science or a masters degree in cyber security.
