What does a Web Development Lead do?

As Web Development Lead you will be part of Nominet's growing Cyber Security division which brings together a dedicated product development team, an expanding sales team, a cyber research team and leading industry advisors. Managing a small team, you will play a lead role in producing robust, ground breaking, rich web applications used to detect cyber security events manifesting amongst billions of DNS queries.

The role could be based either in our Oxford or London office; flexible or some remote working also considered.

Our Web Development Team are Java maestros and forward thinkers who keep our Cyber Security division firing on all cylinders. They play a lead role in producing robust, ground breaking, rich web applications used to detect cyber security events amongst billions of DNS queries. They’re here to ensure that when it comes to quality of service and UX/ UI, we’re second to none.

Take ownership
Design and develop web applications to meet our highest-quality standards. Take the reins and lead the team in everything from requirements capture, analysis and design to carrying out complex bespoke changes.

Maintain and set excellent standards
You’re here to take the lead on the design of web based user interfaces across Nominet’s cyber software stack and ensure the user experience is industry-leading. You will coach and develop members in your team to apply these standards across all the work the team does.

Be a super-connector
Be the go-to front-end authority everyone counts on, developing and building relationships across your team and beyond. Be an inspirational leader for members in your team. Help tech and non-tech colleagues by being crystal clear and easy to follow – face-to-face and in writing.

Manage to the nth degree
Confidently handle whatever comes your way: processes, releases, stakeholder expectations and feedback. Diagnose and fix productions issues and deal with the unknowns. Be a stickler for security, all the time. All without needing to be told.

You are an inspirational manager and mentor to team members, ensuring high performance and delivery across the team.

Hands-on UX design skills and excellent knowledge of building first-class user experiences in web applications.

You know your way around a range of technologies such as JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Angular, jQuery, React.

Excellent JavaScript knowledge, with particular focus on AngularJS, combined with a proven history of designing and crafting high quality web applications.
